Transition was true for Jesus’ first followers too. They endured some very painful transitions, such as when Jesus had to leave them when they did not yet “grasp the meaning or magnificence of the ghastly event about to follow”. Only later would they understand Jesus’ departure as the hour for Him to go home to His Father and our Father. This hour was not a literal 60 minutes but a divinely-set timeframe involving a sequence of events – Jesus being executed on a Roman cross, resurrected from the dead and then seated at the right hand of His Father. JESUS WILL NOT BE DOMESTICATED
So often we are tempted to reject what we cant control. John Piper rightly says “Jesus will not be domesticated”. The spirit of control works against one of Gods favourite elements in man: faith. As Bill Johnson says “Trust can be misplaced as it becomes anchored in man’s ability to reason”
Jesus was and is radical. When we follow Him wholeheartedly we will not be relying on our own understanding. This will require both discernment and courage. Indeed, in these turbulent times we are to stand and keep standing.Read full article
